Runo Cortez bought his first DJ-gear at the age of 14, while still living with his parents. He always had a strong affection towards music, especially the melodies always caught his attention. During the last 10 years he created his own style and own sound. 

In 2008 he played in major venues in The Netherlands like The Escape, Jimmy Woo and Paradiso in Amsterdam, OffCorso in Rotterdam and The Zenith in Venray.

In 2009 he won the DJ-contest of Dancetour Dordrecht, which allowed him to play in front of 50.000 people during the famous Queensday in The Netherlands. Being in the lineup with great names like DJ Chuckie, Sidney Samson and Gregor Salto, made him a local hero. From this point on he had his mind set on more festivals and bigger challenges. 

In 2009 it right away paid off with a contract in Aruba, where he played in every club and festival on the island and his sound was immediately embrased by the American tourists and the local inhabitants of Aruba. During his stay in Aruba, he was lined up with huge players in the scene like; Tiesto, Jean, Vato Gonzalez, Billy the Klit, Ralvero and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. As a result from his stay in Aruba he paid a visit to major cities like Paris, Berlin and New York at the beginning of 2010.

During the summer season of 2010, another big festival felt the energy of Runo Cortez, therefore he was to be in a major lineup at Infinity Festival 2010 with DJ's like Benny Rodrigues, Madskillz and Miss Djax. 

In November 2010 he was again re-booked by The International Beachtennis Tournament in Aruba, for his crazy performance the year before, in order to have another shot on making the party one to never forget.... And he succeeded. 

The dreams of Runo Cortez go a lot further, as he got his mind set on getting a contract with huge clubs and even bigger festivals like Sensation... Let's wait and see how that story unfolds.

The style of Runo Cortez can be described as Electro House, but actually he plays anything that has enough energy to make the dancefloor go wild on tracks within the House genre.
